At Buni ("we," "our," or "us"), we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, store, and safeguard your personal information when you use our mobile applications, web services, and AI language learning platform.
We collect the following types of information when you interact with Buni:
- Account Information: Email address, display name, profile picture, and authentication details (e.g., via Google, Apple Sign-In, or email password).
- Learning Progress Data: Target languages, practice history, vocabulary scores, streaks, and quiz performance.
- Device & Usage Information: Device model, operating system, app version, IP address, and anonymized analytics data.
02. Voice & AI Processing
Buni offers real-time voice interactions powered by AI models to assist you in practicing language conversation.
- Audio Recording: When enabled, your voice input is processed to convert speech to text and analyze pronunciation accuracy.
- AI Processing: Text transcripts are sent securely to our AI model providers strictly to generate conversational responses. Voice data is processed transiently and is never sold or used for public training datasets without explicit consent.
- Microphone Permissions: You can grant or revoke microphone access at any time through your device settings.
Account Deletion & Data Removal

You have the full right to delete your Buni account and remove all associated data permanently at any time. We support both in-app self-service deletion and web-based deletion requests.
1In-App Deletion (Instant)
- Open the Buni mobile application.
- Navigate to Settings → Account.
- Scroll down and select "Delete Account".
- Confirm your password or authentication prompt to permanently erase your profile.
2Web Request / Support Request
If you cannot access the app, you can request manual account deletion by sending an email:

- All profile information, saved vocabularies, progress streaks, and settings are permanently erased from our active database.
- Voice interaction logs and transcripts associated with your user ID are immediately destroyed.
- Subscriptions (if active through Apple App Store or Google Play) must be canceled separately through your device app store settings.
- Any residual log backups are completely purged within 30 calendar days.
04. Data Retention & Security
We employ industry-standard encryption protocols (TLS/SSL in transit, AES-256 at rest) to secure your personal data.
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to provide you with Buni services, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.
05. Third-Party Services
We may utilize trusted third-party service providers to support our platform infrastructure, analytics, and AI capabilities:
- Cloud Infrastructure: Firebase, Vercel, Supabase, or AWS for data hosting.
- Analytics: Google Analytics or PostHog for aggregated, non-identifiable usage statistics.
- Authentication: Google Auth and Apple Sign-In services.
